SHUKALB successfully piloted a Distance Learning Course using the D-LeaP Academy

SHUKALB has successfully implemented, for the first time in its history of training development and delivery, a distance-learning training course on “Practical Guidelines for the Administrative Council Members of Water Supply and Sewerage Utilities”.  The pilot distance-learning training course was developed and implemented in the framework of SHUKALB’s USAID funded Project “Sustainable Water Sector Capacity Development in Albania” with joint support from the aforementioned project, as well as a Grant Project funded by the International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD).  In addition, IAWD provided SHUKALB with a space in its Danube Learning Partnership (D-LeaP) Academy, where the distance-learning training course was implemented.

First Energy Efficiency workshop successfully delivered by AQUASAN Network in B&H

On 10-11 October 2018, the first workshop within D-LeaP Capacity Development Program for improvement of Energy Efficiency in public utility companies (PUCs) was held in the hotel "Rekic'', in Bihac. The overall objective of the Program is capacity strengthening of the PUCs employees on the methods and possibilities for Energy Efficiency improvement of pumping stations. The first two-day workshop within the Program for PUCs from Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) was organized by representatives of the thematic centre, Association for Water and Environmental Protection "Aquasan Network in B&H".

After very successful 1st Danube Hub utility benchmarking cycle that took place in 2017-2018, we are glad to launch the 2nd Danube Hub utility benchmarking cycle.

In addition to the 18 existing Danube Hub members which are coming from 9 countries, which already collected their benchmarking data, we are inviting other leading utilities from the region to join the Danube Hub.

Meeting of  National Experts for organization of the Workshop for Water Safety and Crisis Managment

SHUKOS hosted in a working meeting the experts who were trained in Vienna for the preparatory phase of the Water Safety and Crisis Management  Program in the Region. This training was completed on 30 March 2018, and it is expected that in the coming months technical assistance will be provided to begin with the distribution of this program to the members of SHUKOS and SHUKALB.

Aquasan holds intermediate workshop within the second training cycle of Non-Revenue Water Program

A two-days workshop was held on 5 and 6 September 2018 in Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina with participation of 14 representatives from 7 Water Utilities from Bosnia and Herzegovina that are registered for this D-LeaP Program: Busovaca, Han Pijesak, Kotor Varos, Laktasi, Prnjavor, Teslic and Zavidovici. Following the initial workshop held in Doboj in the beginning of July 2018, this is the second workshop organised within the second training cycle of the NRW Program implemented by Aquasan Network in BiH.

SHUKALB in cooperation with SHUKOS successfully completed the first cycle of Commercial Efficiency Program

SHUKALB and SHUKOS completed successfully the 3rd and the final workshop of the D-LeaP Commercial Efficiency program, which was held on 6th of July, at the premises of Korca Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Korca WSSC).

The program has been delivered in partnership with Korca WSSC, which hosted the participants during the 3 (three) workshops of the program, providing a unique opportunity for them to see in practice the analytical aspects of commercial efficiency, as well as the practical field activities related to that.

On 4 and 5 July 2018, Aquasan Network in BiH delivered the first two-day workshop (Initial Workshop) within the D-LeaP Capacity Development Program for Non-Revenue Water. The Workshop took place in Doboj, BiH with the participation of 15 representatives from 7 PUCs in BiH.

Kick-off Workshop of the fourth cycle of the Utility Benchmarking Program took place in Kiev

On June 12, the kick-off Workshop of the fourth cycle of the Utility Benchmarking Program in the Ukrainian Benchmarking Hub took place in Kiev. The training workshop was attended by 26 representatives of Ukrainian water utilities, which are participating in the program. Philip Weller, the Head of Technical Secretariat of IAWD, joined the workshop via Skype to make and openning speech and to congratulate the workshop participants.

Information about HUB Benchmarking Kosovo and Albania visit to Sofia, Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Water Association (BWA) hosted a working meeting within the Benchmarking Project, Benchmarking HUB of Kosovo and Albania. This event was closed on 30 May 2018 at the University of Architecture, Construction Engineering and Geodesy. Present were a total of 19 representatives from Albania and Kosovo. In the framework of the visit was organized a seminar and a visit to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Sofia - Water Supply Kubratovo.

ADKOM has launched and successfully completed the first cycle of Commercial Efficiency Program

The training center of ADKOM started with the implementation of the first program of the Danube Partnership Learning "Commercial Efficiency and Business Planning". The program was implemented through six modules, two of which were held in May (30 and 31.05), and the remaining four modules in June (19, 21, 25 and 27.06) in several cities in the Republic of Macedonia. Participants of the modules were active participants from PE "Vodovod i Kanalizacija Skopje", JPKD "Komunalec" Strumica, KJI "Vodovod" Kocani, PE "Vodovod" Kumanovo, JKP "Usluga" Berovo, and PUC "Komunalec" Demir Hisar. Trainers of this program were Mr. Jane Vrteski and Mrs. Biljana Angelova.

In a follow-up, IAWD took the opportunity to have the contents and essentials of this ongoing program presented at the 2018 Young Water Professionals Conference in Zagreb, Croatia.

First cycle of  Benchmarking Exercise in the Danube Hub successfully completed

The first utility benchmarking exercise in the Danube Hub, which started as a pilot in late 2017, concluded in May 2018 with 18 participating utilities from 9 countries (Albania - 3 utilities; Bosnia and Herzegovina - 5 utilities; Croatia - 1 utility; Hungary - 1 utility; Kosovo - 2 utilities; Macedonia - 2 utilities; Montenegro - 1 utility; Romania - 1 utility; and Serbia - 2 utilities). The Danube Hub 2018 exercise included the development of utility benchmarking reports and the organization of the 1st Danube Hub benchmarking workshop on March 22-23 in Montenegro in a World Water Day event, which was organized by an IAWD member, the Regional Water Company of Montenegro Coastal Area in the winter resort of Zabljak and in the coastal city of Tivat. SHUKALB and SHUKOS Organize the 1st Workshop of D-LeaP Commercial Efficiency program

SHUKALB and SHUKOS kicked off the D-LeaP Commercial Efficiency program with the delivery of the first workshop, held on 12 and 13 April at the premises of Korca Water Supply and Sewerage Company (Korca WSSC).

The workshop was delivered by the sector expert Elia Pendavinji, Commercial Director, Korca WSSC, in cooperation with Eng. Vangjush Lubonja, Distribution Network Manager, Korca WSSC, and it was attended by the representatives of water utilities of Vlora, Saranda, Permet and Prishtina.  The workshop was assisted by the Technical Partner of the program, Valu Add Management Services.

Water Safety and Crisis Management Training of Trainers  in Vienna successfully completed

End of March,  the Training of Trainers for the Water Safety Planning Curriculum under D-LeaP was completed. The training week at the Vienna Water Works Headquarters and the Austria Trend Hotel Ananas (both in Vienna) took place between the 26th and 30th of March. Twelve trainers were present from four associations (ADKOM, UTVSI, AQUASAN and SHUKOS).

1st Danube Hub Benchmarking Workshop

The 1st Danube Hub Benchmarking Workshop, organised by IAWD in cooperation with the Regional Waterworks of Montenegro Coastal Area, took place in Montenegro on March 21-23, 2018. The Danube Hub offering Benchmarking to utilities in the Danube region used this opportunity to discuss the results of the international benchmarking reports. The workshop took place back-to-back with the World Water Day in Montenegro.

Aquasan Network in BiH has organised the second two-day workshop on non-revenue water reduction in water supply utilities on 21 to 22 December 2017 in Bihać.

The objective of this Program is to develop the capacities of water utilities/ public utility companies (PUCs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina for efficient NRW management and thereby improve the performance of PUCs and sustainability of water services.

The first Training of Trainers event for Energy Efficiency in Water Supply and Sanitation Utilities took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on 6-10 March 2017. 14 people from four different Hubs were trained by the Technical Partner Econoler in best practice planning and delivery of the Energy Efficiency program for future delivery to stakeholder.
